Home on the Range

There's a big difference in practising irons on a mat and on the ground.

Ground is better because you get a sense of divot. It also trains you to hit down on the ball. Ball and turf (or ground in this case). Bad habits like flipping are highlighted.

Great at recreating the right feeling at impact. Really makes you realize the importance of a full turn on the backswing, because it's the only way to make solid impact. Also trains you to stay with the shot until impact, then a body turn to the target for the finish.

Might be training more at Kagitingan (driving range), especially with irons.
