More on Dresden

Nothing brings the story of Dresden closer to reality than Band of Brothers, the TV series about American soldiers serving in Europe during WW II. Most of the story of the characters revolve around their time around and in the city of Dresden. Dresden was bombed "flat to the ground", as one local told me on the train from Dresden to Berlin.

Today, much of the central part of the city has been restored, using the old stones where possible. It is a vibrant city, with quite a decent museum, and a growing tourist industry.
